http://skyfaller.livejournal.com/121347.html asks Hoosgot,
SPARC is looking for some open source webcasting software to replace the proprietary software they are currently using, Infinite Conferencing. The crucial functionality they need is: (1) Slide delivery - They need to be able to conduct a powerpoint/slideshow presentation over the web in a user-friendly manner, without having to download any plugins. I am unclear on how Infinite does this, Jennifer suggested that it might be ActiveX, but that would only work on Windows/IE and she also claims to have used it on a Mac, so that can’t be right. (2) Text chat - IRC + web portals should be good enough to handle this? If we could do those two things in an open source fashion, they could just … Visit the blog to lend your wisdom, or you can comment below.Open source webcasting?

ePresence is the world’s first open source webcasting solution – perfect for streaming live, rich media presentations and publishing them as on-demand archives with synchronized audio, video, and slides. One easy way to experience what ePresence is capable of is to watch a presentation on our open presentation portal here: http://epresence.tv/presentations.
Our live webcasting template does indeed support text chat; several of our clients have also used phone conferencing in conjunction with this to support audio interaction. Another important thing to note is that as an open source product, the content you create using ePresence is always yours and is easily migrateable.
Feel free to send me an email for more information. I’d be happy to answer any other questions you have and explore how ePresence would be a good fit for SPARC.
If you are interested in a live webcasting demo, I can certainly book a time with our technical staff at your earliest convenience. You’ll be able to see the solution in action as well and ask any technical questions you may have.
