Dear Lazyweb, The mystery PC beep has been solved. It was the NetGear WiFi card after all. I didn’t see any settings in the program for sounds, but my wife discovered that if you right-clicked on the menu bar icon there was a check mark next to “Enable ‘Internet Connected’ Notification.” Once she unchecked it the problem went away.
